Gelly Plate Printing uses a gelatin plate to press to fabric or paper. The process is easy as the paint is put on the gelly surface, spread out with a brayer then a variety of stencils and other textural objects are placed on the gelly plate, removed and placed on the fabric. The stencil leaves a texture or pattern on the gelly plate that is transferred to what you are printing on. The stencils can be placed on the fabric or paper as well for a different effect. There are an infinite variety of ways to use Gelly Plate printing with a wide variety of inks, stencils or really anything to add texture, and printing techniques. The Gelli Plate is a reusable printing surface made of a non-perishable gel. Depending on the paint or other medium used - clean up is easy.
